Beaufort Named Preserve America Community

Beaufort has been designated one of the Preserve America Communities & Neighborhoods for 2008.

Preserve America is a White House Initiative program, designed to give towns, counties and communities the chance to evoke interest in the appreciation and preservation of their histories, heritage, lands, peoples, architecture, agriculture, etc., and to help promote local efforts to maintain these histories.

Previously designated North Carolina Preserve America Communities are Asheville, Cleveland County, Edenton, Fayetteville, Gastonia, Gaston County, Greenville, Hatteras Village, Kinston, Manteo, New Bern, Shelby, Ocracoke, Thomasville, Wilkes County, and Wilmington.
