North Carolina Scores Again as Top Dive Location

Scuba Diving Magazine’s Readers’ Choice Survey ranked North Carolina/Morehead City as one of the premier diving locations in North America – with four first place awards.
In its announcement, which is reported in the January-February issue, the magazine editors wrote: “Who says you have to fly half way around the globe for world-class diving? For residents of the East Coast, North Carolina is close enough to drive to and offers a wealth of options at a fraction of the cost.
“From spring to early fall, wreck divers flock to Morehead City, home to more than 100 sunken vessels. Sand tiger sharks and World War II wrecks make North Carolina a world-class destination.”
The accolades include: First place awards as a Dive Destination, for Marine Life, for Big Animal Encounters and Wreck Diving; second place for Underwater Photography; third place for Marine Environment; and seventh place for Top Value.
