Beaufort
Walk Hand in Hand with History
Walk the streets of historic Beaufort, and you can easily step back into Revolutionary War times, envision 17th century pirates, or become a Civil War soldier. So much has happened here, it’s easy to forget our contemporary world of today. Streets are lined with beautifully restored Victorian homes, and a wooden boardwalk follows the inlet and encourages strolls past charter boats and seafood restaurants.
This is a town packed with charm, history, and more than its share of natural beauty. From the hundreds of acres of the Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve and the tall sails and gentle whir of the boats of Bogue Inlet, to Shackleford Island and its wild ponies, all the way out to the magnificence of the Atlantic Ocean, Mother Nature represents herself beautifully, and in a variety of ways.
